Chinese abacus type
The Chinese abacus is an ancient tool that remains an excellent educational resource for helping children better understand math. Addition and subtraction operations are performed very intuitively.
The abacus was already known in China 2000 years ago, where it is known as the suanpan.
The beads on the abacus were initially made of bone, later bamboo, and finally plastic. The Chinese abacus has more beads than its Japanese counterpart: five instead of four on one row and ten instead of five on the other. Each row corresponds to a decimal place.
